You may have been born “physically impaired”. It might be challenging. However, don’t pity yourself. Don’t blame yourself. Neither should you blame your parents. Nobody did anything wrong. It will be hard to understand and even believe this; You are not a mistake! God created you with a purpose. He wants to fulfill a great purpose on earth with you. It is okay if you don’t understand. Some wondered and were curious to know why. (John 9:1-3) And when he went on his way, he saw a man blind from birth. And his disciples put a question to him, saying, Master, was it because of this man's sin, or the sin of his father and mother, that he has been blind from birth? Jesus said in answer, it was not because of his sin, or because of his father's or mother's; it was so that the works of God might be seen openly in him.
Everyone has been created differently for unique and specific purposes. You can never understand why you look so different until you ask, as the followers in the scripture did. Instead of pitying yourself, pause and earnestly but humbly ask God, who is the true source and creator, Father, what do you want to accomplish with me on earth?
With a sincere question (prayer), God will surely reveal to you why He has formed you like no other. It’s prudent to share with you some names of people who were born “physically impaired,” yet they did and are still doing marvelous things. They didn’t see themselves as liabilities but as assets. They challenged themselves to rise above their challenges to meet the expectations of their lives.
Such people include Helen Keller who suffered an illness at a tender age that rendered her blind and deaf for life. Irrespective of this predicament, she authored a lot of books and contributed immensely to education.
Another living example is John Foppe, born with no arms. John’s story is no different from yours. He self-pitied during the early years of his life and relied greatly on others for survival. He hated himself for how he looked and extended the hatred to his parents. Later on, John realized that he possessed a powerful inbuilt ability. He challenged and transformed himself from total reliance on people to total independence. Today, John lives a normal life and is married with children (with no impairment), and does almost everything by himself. He travels around the world, speaking at conferences to inspire people.
Countless examples can be cited to prove to you that you are not an outcast. You are here in the world because you are needed. God needs you here. You look the way you are because of why you are.
It is your responsibility to find out from God why exactly He has formed you. Until you do this, you will never make peace with yourself and never be content with what God has given you. You will remain discontent because you are blinded by what you refer to as “misfortune”.
It doesn’t matter what you think, feel, and say about yourself, God’s purpose and plans for your life remain intact. Psalm 33:11 The Lord's purpose is eternal; the designs of his heart go on through all the generations of man.
Let me remind you that God loves you so dearly.
